The "electric grid" on a community wall is called a "Pulse Electronic Fence": (1) high voltage (high voltage: 5KV-10KV, low voltage: 700V-1000V); (2) low energy (the maximum energy output of a single pulse does not exceed 5.0J).
When the pulse generator (host) is powered on, the transmitting port sends pulse voltage to the front-end fence, emitting about once every 1.5 seconds, with each pulse lasting about 0.1 second on the fence. After the front-end fence forms a loop, the pulse returns to the host's receiving port, which receives the feedback pulse signal; meanwhile the host also detects the resistance between the two transmitting ends. If the front-end fence is damaged causing an open circuit or short circuit, or the receiving port of the pulse host cannot receive the pulse signal, or the resistance between the two transmitting ends is too small, the host will alarm.

From the working principle of the Electronic Fence, no matter what voltage working state the pulse host is in, when the fence is damaged and the receiving port cannot receive the pulse signal, the pulse host will alarm; similarly, when the two electronic cables are short-circuited and the resistance is very small, the pulse host will also alarm.
When an intruder attempts to climb over or cut the electronic cable, the Zone controller repels the intruder with a safe-energy high-voltage pulse while simultaneously sending an alarm signal. The Electronic Fence has a very low false-alarm rate, alarming only on short circuit, wire break or host disassembly.
The fence is divided into Zones. The pulse controllers currently on the market can generally control about 10,000 meters of single wire. Calculated based on the commonly installed 4-wire fence on the market, the fence length is about 2,500 meters. With such a long distance, if an alarm occurs, security personnel would take a long time to find the location of the incident and cannot handle it in time. For example, the Shanghai Technical Defense Office requires that each Zone of a perimeter alarm system not exceed 100 meters, so how to divide Zones is very important.
