China Railway Guangzhou Bureau Group Co., Ltd., abbreviated as Guangzhou Railway Group, is a large backbone state-owned enterprise in railway transportation directly under China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. I. History of Development
The company's railway operations date back to the Hengyang Railway Bureau established in 1949, and went through the Guangzhou Railway Bureau and Guangzhou Railway (Group) Company stages. Guangzhou Railway Group was formally established in 1993 and completed its corporate reform in 2017, when it was renamed China Railway Guangzhou Bureau Group Co., Ltd. With a registered capital of 249.254 billion yuan, it is one of the first railway bureaus in the country to carry out market-oriented reform.
II. Jurisdiction and Network Scale
Guangzhou Railway Group administers the railways of the three provinces of Guangdong, Hunan and Hainan, and also operates the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong cross-border high-speed railway connecting Hong Kong. It is the railway enterprise with the widest network coverage and the densest passenger flow in South China.
By the end of 2025, the group's operating railway length exceeded 12,200 km, including nearly 6,000 km of high-speed rail at 200 km/h or above, ranking among the top in the country in high-speed rail mileage. It has brought high-speed rail to every city in Hunan and Guangdong, built a circular-island high-speed railway in Hainan, and operates many super-large high-speed railway hubs such as Guangzhou South, Shenzhen North and Changsha South, with more than 700 stations across the network.
The network covers national high-speed trunk lines such as Beijing-Guangzhou, Shanghai-Kunming, Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong, Guiyang-Guangzhou, Nanning-Guangzhou and Ganzhou-Shenzhen, forming a one-hour commuting circle in the Pearl River Delta, two-hour access within the province, and six-to-eight-hour cross-province direct service to major city clusters nationwide. It runs more than 1,600 passenger train pairs daily and handled over 600 million passenger trips in 2024, consistently ranking at the top nationwide.

Passenger transport: mainly high-speed trains, EMUs, conventional trains and cross-border high-speed rail, with diversified products such as multi-ride tickets, period tickets, cultural tourism special trains and sleeper EMUs; it undertakes the task of ensuring smooth transport during the Spring Festival rush, summer travel peak and holidays;
Freight transport: serving industrial and mining enterprises, ports and logistics parks, operating freight block trains and cold-chain special trains to support regional manufacturing and foreign trade;
Infrastructure operation and maintenance: responsible for the construction, inspection and monitoring of track, bridges and tunnels, signaling and power supply, and station security equipment across the network, including perimeter-security and integrated monitoring system maintenance along the railway;
Diversified supporting industries: covering railway engineering construction, land and property management, railway logistics, hotel and business travel, and industry-education integrated training, with more than 60 transport depots, over ten first-level non-transport enterprises and several joint-venture railway companies.
